ownCloud 8.1 Enterprise Edition is Here!

Posted by ownCloud GmbH – 11. August 2015

Over the past few weeks we have been teasing you with new features and updates in ownCloud 8.1 following the release of ownCloud Server 8.1. But today is the day that we are announcing the release of ownCloud 8.1 Enterprise Edition!

With this release, ownCloud has raised the bar on performance and scalability.  We deliver improved performance, with up to 4X improvement in uploads and downloads, and exponentially faster file operations like copy and move, saving time on critical sharing situations.  ownCloud 8.1 also provides improved scalability through better handling of massive parallel requests, and can now support 50% more users per ownCloud server instance.

But as you have also seen, there are a number of new features and updates that come with 8.1:

  • We introduce ownCloud Encryption 2.0. The reworked encryption adds additional modularity and flexibility into the overall encryption architecture. We give you the two things you want most – the ability to manage your encryption keys in your key stores, and the ability to customize the encryption algorithms to meet specific regulatory and business needs.
  • Integrating your user directories has become even simpler with updates to the ownCloud Active Directory/LDAP Wizard. With ownCloud 8.1 we have made improvements to the wizard and the backend connector that now make it even more reliable and robust than ever, with enhanced Admin capabilities and advanced configuration options.
  • We give you more control over external storage with new mount options. This enables administrators to configure ownCloud to meet their unique performance and use case requirements.
