In a fresh market overview of Content Collaboration Platforms (CCP), analysts at Gartner compiled a list of 12 vendors that have ‘visibility and traction in this market’. ownCloud is the only open-source Content Collaboration Platform included in the Gartner Market Guide for Content Collaboration Tools that aims to help ‘leaders responsible for the digital workplace to understand the product landscape’. CCPs ‘have played a fundamental role in supporting modern remote-working patterns’, the analysts write. They are part of the ‘new work nucleus’ and ‘important for local working scenarios and essential for supporting remote-working scenarios’.
‘We are proud to have been included in this refined selection’, says ownCloud CEO Tobias Gerlinger. ‘Some organizations are understandably reluctant to entrust their processes, user data and trade secrets to software and clouds run by US tech firms’. For them, ownCloud offers a safe and robust alternative that enables teams to easily share and work on files seamlessly, regardless of device or location.
ownCloud allows organizations to reap the benefits of cloud computing while preserving their digital sovereignty, through private cloud infrastructure and the transparency inherent in open-source software. It also is fully EU-GDPR compliant. More than 100 million users worldwide already use ownCloud as an alternative to public clouds – and thereby opt for more digital sovereignty, security and data protection.
