{"id":10046,"date":"2016-05-31T10:57:11","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T10:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/owncloud.com\/?p=10046"},"modified":"2016-05-31T10:57:11","modified_gmt":"2016-05-31T10:57:11","slug":"announcing-the-owncloud-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/owncloud.com\/de\/blogs\/announcing-the-owncloud-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing the ownCloud Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10047\" src=\"https:\/\/owncloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/TOF-Logo-300x125.png\" alt=\"The ownCloud Foundation\" width=\"300\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today we announce the creation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ownCloud Foundation<\/a>.\u00a0 The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with the charter of stewarding the ownCloud ecosystem, and guaranteeing the viability and availability of free ownCloud now and in the future.\u00a0 I have had an interest in starting a foundation for ownCloud for years and now, the time is right.<\/p>\n<p>This means the leadership of the community and the product direction will be determined by the ownCloud Foundation\u2019s members and board.\u00a0 Membership is free and open to everyone.\u00a0 We have proposed four working groups to focus on in the beginning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/owncloud-foundation\/working-groups\/technical-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Technical<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/owncloud-foundation\/working-groups\/security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Security<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/owncloud-foundation\/working-groups\/evangelist-working-group-charter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evangelism<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/owncloud-foundation\/working-groups\/marketing-contributor-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ownCloud Contributor Conference<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who are already very involved with ownCloud, nothing changes in how you contribute.\u00a0 However, you will find a re-commitment to <a href=\"https:\/\/owncloud.com\/blog\/owncloud-inc-announces-open-planning-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">open development<\/a> and direction for each working group as set by the working group lead.<\/p>\n<p>The board will provide oversight and will have demonstrated expertise in multiple areas that impact the ownCloud ecosystem.\u00a0 From frequent contributors to large scale deployments to those elected by the community, we hope to offer a home for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>You can find a lot more info about the Foundation at <a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.owncloud.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">foundation.owncloud.org<\/a>.\u00a0 The mission and charter, the details on membership, elections, board, funding, preliminary bylaws and more are available there.
