Last week we received the notification that our ownCloud Google Summer of Code project was selected!<\/p>\n

As explained in my last blog post about Phoenix<\/a> we are co-mentoring the GSoC project ‚Petabyte-Scale Cloud Storage File Manager<\/a>‚ together with fellows from Cern and AARNet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We’d like to congratulate Oshan Ivantha<\/a> for being selected for GSoC 2018! I’m really looking forward to work with you on this project!<\/p>\n

Within the next 4 weeks – during the so called Community Bonding Period<\/a> – Oshan will be introduced to the ownCloud community and he will learn all necessary details to start with the coding phase on May 14th. For a detailed timeline have a look here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Google Summer of Code<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0Google Summer of Code<\/b>, often abbreviated to\u00a0GSoC<\/b>, is an international annual program, first held from May to August 2005. It is a global program focused on bringing more student developers into open source software development. Students work with a selected open source organization on a 3 month programming project during their break from school.<\/p>\n
