What it is<\/h4>\n

Simply put, think of the Shortcuts App as a toolbox or function library for creating your own workflows, kind of like tiny apps. iOS, the operating system, provides quite a number of basic functions. Other functions are provided for by Apps installed on your device. The possibilities are tremendous, weakening the common critique of iOS as a closed system or walled garden.<\/p>\n

A place to start<\/h1>\n

Through the Shortcuts gallery, Apple provides a number of inspirational and aspirational examples to learn from or just copy. This is especially helpful for non-programmers and beginners as they get a glimpse into the logic of actual examples that can be adapted to their needs without completing a computer science degree first.<\/p>\n

The Actions available through ownCloud<\/h1>\n

Let\u2019s have a look at the Actions that ownCloud provides to the Shortcuts App:<\/p>\n

    Start building<\/h1>\n

    And now, let\u2019s start building an example Shortcut. When you choose this Shortcut in the iOS Share Sheet for files like e-mail attachments and downloads, it saves them in an ownCloud folder of your choice to help you keep your paperwork in order.<\/p>\n

    1. Create Shortcut<\/li>\n
    2. Tap on \u2026 button in the top right corner
      \n1. Enter a Shortcut name: e.g. Save Invoice
      \n2. Enable \u2018Show in Share Sheet\u2019
      \n3. Tap on \u2018Share Sheet Types\u2019 and then \u2018Deselect all\u2019, then select \u2018PDFs\u2019
      \n4. Tap on \u2018<Details\u2019
      \n5. You can customize the color and the icon by tapping the icon left of the Shortcut Name
      \n6. Tap on \u2018Done\u2019<\/li>\n
    3. Tap on the + Button<\/li>\n
    4. Tap on \u2018Apps\u2019 and select \u2018ownCloud\u2019<\/li>\n
    5. Select \u2018Get Directory Listing\u2019
      \n1. After the phrase \u2018Get Directory Listing for\u2019 you can enter the path where you want to save your Invoices, for example \u2018Documents\u2019, make sure the directory exists
      \n2. After the phrase \u2018from\u2019, please select your ownCloud Account<\/li>\n
    6. Tap on the + Button and search for \u2018Choose from List\u2019<\/li>\n
    7. Tap on the + Button<\/li>\n
    8. Tap on \u2018Apps\u2019 and select \u2018ownCloud\u2019<\/li>\n
    9. Select \u2018Get Directory Listing\u2019
      \n1. After the phrase \u2018Get Directory Listing for\u2019 it should be automatically included the \u2018Chosen Item\u2019 value
      \n2. After the phrase \u2018from\u2019 select your ownCloud Account<\/li>\n
    10. Tap on the + Button and search for \u2018Choose from List\u2019<\/li>\n
    11. Tap on the + Button<\/li>\n
    12. Tap on \u2018Apps\u2019 and select \u2018ownCloud\u2019<\/li>\n
    13. Select \u2018Save File\u2019
      \n1. After the phrase \u2018Save File\u2019 remove the prefilled value and tap on \u2018Select Magic Variable\u2019
      \n2. Scroll to the top and select \u2018Shortcut Input\u2019
      \n3. After the phrase \u2018to\u2019 in the field \u2018path\u2019, tap on \u2018Chosen Item\u2019
      \n4. After the phrase \u2018in\u2019, select your ownCloud Account<\/li>\n

      You can now test your shiny new Shortcut. If you come across a PDF file, you can select your Shortcut name in the Share Sheet to save it into your ownCloud.
