I was recently asked to keynote at Latinoware 2012 — the premier Latin American Free Software Conference. After some bad weather, causing some return flight challenges, I have arrived back in Germany. So I have to say, ownCloud is BIG in Latin America, not just with home users, but with large organization and universities as well.
I also have to say that Latinoware 2012 was very popular – with more than 4,000 attendees, and the right attendees too. Sessions were well attended – including mine – and sparked some great discussions, many of which extended into hallways, break rooms and meals. In other words, there was real interest by the attendees, to learn, to partake and to assist.
I was even motivated enough to pen a “manifesto“.
I want to thank the organizers for inviting me and for perfectly organizing the event to bring out this creative response by the attendees. It’s great to be in an atmosphere of learning and excitement and dedication.
I also want to thank all those who approached me, who challenged me, who helped me – I made some great new friends and potential contributors to the ownCloud project. I’m looking forward adding their energy and creativity.
