Today we are announcing not one, not even two, but three releases. That’s right; today the updated versions of the Desktop Client, Android App, and iOS App are now available! The desktop, Android, and iOS clients have all received a major update, support to directly share with other users or groups on your ownCloud server.
Here’s what else is new:
Desktop Client
The new ownCloud Desktop Client introduces a number of new features and updates including a new activity tab and share menu. The activity tab allows users to see any activity on files such as whether it has been modified or shared. The share menu offers public link sharing with expiration date and password features as well as the ability to directly share to groups or users with in the user’s ownCloud server.
Mobile Clients
The mobile clients also offer additional features and updates including new folder syncing options and new share dialogs. The android client adds the ability to fully synchronize a folder, which can be set manually on any folder you like. The client now also shows thumbnails in the ‘Details’ view. The iOS client enables users to set specific folders as ‘favorites,’ which ensures that these specific folders will always be available offline and fully up to date. You can also choose to fully download a single folder and there is a full screen preview for documents on the iPad.
With the new share dialogs names and groups from your ownCloud are suggested when you start typing. The Android client also introduces public link functionality with password and expiration settings and all clients can detect if a server admin has enabled sharing and act accordingly.
