Last week I flew to Zürich to attend the second annual CS3 event at ETH University and to talk about the future of Federated Cloud Sharing. And I must say, overall this was an incredibly impressive and interesting event in the education/research space.
Last year a few of our competitors such as Seafile and Powerfolder presented at the event, however this year the event was largely dominated by ownCloud, with about 90% of the talks covering us; how they run and scale ownCloud, which was pretty awesome. Several people even called ownCloud the market leader, the best option or the de facto standard. And not only that, but about 90% of the attendees were already running ownCloud, some customized for their own use case many great and interesting ways, and many of them enterprise customers and others still evaluating the subscription.
It is so great to see ownCloud at the forefront of this innovative community and that most of the attendees already run very big ownCloud services with very happy users. I could not be more thrilled about the outcome of this event.
