A very active community of open source contributors worked diligently to meet a Wednesday, July 23 deadline for adding an innovative, and technically extraordinary, feature to the document sharing and collaboration system called ownCloud. With public releases dating back just to 2012, ownCloud was originally built as an on-premise document sharing platform–a company’s own Dropbox, without the security headaches.
