Once again this year, the ownCloud team was represented with its own stand at the most important IT security trade fair it-sa in Nuremberg. The event was the perfect opportunity to meet old friends from the industry and of course to make a lot of new contacts.

Especially the new enterprise feature “Secure View” attracted the attention of many visitors. The security solution developed by ownCloud together with Collabora Online is an effective way for CIOs and other IT decision-makers to implement secure information distribution in the context of virtual data rooms. This enables companies to increase their productivity and at the same time ensure that certain information does not get outside unprotected. Read more about SecureView here.

The new ownCloud architecture called “Infinite Scale” also attracted great interest. This new development is based on a completely new code base with the developers switching from PHP to Go. In conjunction with the new Phoenix web interface, Infinite Scale promises unlimited scalability for users, shares, requests and data. Learn more about Infinite Scale here.

The it-sa as a whole was also a big success: The number of visitors continued to increase parallel to the growing number of exhibitors. At 20 percent, the increase in trade fair visitors from abroad was even higher than the growth within Germany. This continues a clear trend from previous years: the IT-SA is becoming more international, and according to the organisers, is meeting with an increasing response especially in other European countries.

The worldwide increasing importance of topics such as data protection, data security and digital sovereignty also lead to an increased demand for security solutions “Made in Germany”. Technologies that support companies in protecting their IT infrastructure individually without sacrificing the advantages of the cloud are addressing this need. In the end, companies will need both in the future: maximum flexibility when exchanging files and complete control over their data.
