How to get started, Part 4a: Special features on iPhone and iPad

This is the fourth post in a series meant to get you up to speed. You'll learn how to reap the benefits of ownCloud's Mobile App for iPhone and iPad.

Edit your scan on the fly before saving

To make you even more productive, we included a feature to scan documents directly in the App*. While in any folder, just click the “+”-Icon in the upper right corner of your screen and choose “Scan document”. Then, you can take a picture oft the document which scans it right into your cloud. You can then crop, rotate and convert between color modes (color, grayscale or black/white), You can then save your document as PDF, JPEG or PNG, and choose wether to create a single pagefile or a multi page file.

Annotate, highlight and draw directly in the ownCloud App

Once you have scanned your document, you can mark it up, draw and annotate on it right in the App. Just click on the three-dot menu icon to the right of the relevant file and click “Markup”. Then, you can edit it with strokes and brushes as you see fit and either save it as a copy of your scanned file or replace the original scan.

Create custom workflows with the Shortcuts app

If you use Apples Shortcutts app to automate tasks on your device, we have great news for you: There are hooks to use ownCloud to build workflows with Shortcuts. You can use actions with parameters to view, receive and store files, create folders and get directory listings, for example.

The keyboard shortcuts available in the ownCloud App on iPadOS

If you use owncloud on an iPad, you can control it comfortably from an attached keyboard. The app supports a host of shortcut commands (learn more). To complete the desktop replacement experience, the app supports pointing device is like Bluetooth mice on iPads (learn more).
