A word about appliances:
ownCloud offers appliances in various VM-versions. The main target is to give our users a quick and seamless possibility to evaluate ownCloud out of the box.
Also appliances may help to run ownCloud on host systems that do not support the installation natively (e.g. Windows). Just with the download and a few configuration steps you get the latest release up and running. We kindly thank Daniel Hansson for helping us out in developing these. There are currently two appliances available – Community Edition and the Enterprise Edition.
To improve the user experience with our appliance Steffen Titschack asks for your support:
Hi ownclouders,
my name is Steffen and I am currently writing my bachelor’s thesis about the user experiences with the owncloud appliance. Over the last months, I assisted the team of ownCloud as an intern by creating an ownCloud-app for the Univention Corporate Server (an extended Debian operating system). Based on these experiences a new generation of appliances will be published.
To improve the usability of the new appliances, I am researching the needs and requirements of the users. Therefore I need as much feedback as possible. If you have ever used the appliance for evaluating a new owncloud version, I would really appreciate if you participate in this survey. It should take about ten minutes of your time and all answers you provide will be kept confidential.
The thesis focuses on business customers, but any feedback would be great and is very welcome!
Thank you
Steffen
