Infinite Scale is not Server and Web only!

We recently released the beta for Infinite Scale. And, there's more: The alpha releases of the desktop clients and the iOS client.

With the Infinite Scale beta release we mainly focused on the server component and the new amazing web interface called ownCloud Web. However, I would like to point out that Infinite Scale is more than that: ownCloud enables users to work across all boundaries, not only geographical but especially across different devices and platforms.

That is why we have desktop– and mobile clients for all major platforms. With these, ownCloud fulfills a lot of different use cases, supporting and supported by the special attributes of each platform.

Along with the beta release, we are happy to announce the alpha releases of the desktop clients and the iOS client of the next generation.

The new releases give a glimpse of the new features of Infinite Scale, specifically Spaces. The Spaces feature offers a new way for teams to collaborate over data and it will be seamlessly supported by the new clients.

On the desktop client for example, the client will display a list of all available spaces for the user, where the sync state can be adjusted with one click. This is a fine granular way to just sync the data that is needed to the desktop, or use the VFS. No more syncing of too much data from huge shares!

Infinite Scale can also be used with the previous, stable versions of the clients, but please be aware that they do not work with the new features of Infinite Scale yet.

In iOS, it is already possible for admins to set space images and descriptions. And, in my personal opinion, the appearance of spaces is just a beauty – which will make users smile.

All this is ready for you to check out now. Make sure to test this with the Infinite Scale Beta!
