What a great time at LinuxCon last week in New Orleans, catching up with old friends, meeting new ownCloud enthusiasts and having the opportunity to speak about the “Cloudy Post-Prism World.” My friend and CEO Markus Rex captured this topic well here.
An open source conference actually was a great place to talk about this because – I believe – it is only open source developers that can help fix the broken privacy pieces of the internet. Open source of course provides great transparency, making it harder to install back doors and other tricks but open source developers – as a rule – are also as a group fiercely protective of their privacy and security.
It is this group that I strongly believe can take back privacy. Sean Michael Kerner captures my talk well and also delves deeper into my Data Manifesto.
