Another great feature in ownCloud 6 Community Edition — available now in BETA – is the ability to see most files (like JPEGs, PDFs, Textfiles, ODT and others) as thumbnails. Why does this matter? Since most of us are visual, having a thumbnail of a file makes finding it a whole lot quicker.
Files can be viewed as thumbnails in the file manager and the Deleted Files section so it easier to find the right deleted file and restore it. And file thumbnails in the versions dialog, so if you revert to an older version you can see to what you are reverting.
And now, a nice new dialog is shown if you try to upload a file that already exists. And, you guessed it, this also includes thumbnails.
But there’s more to ownCloud 6’s file management improvements than thumbnails, several other small improvements went into the file manager app. For instance, you can see the number and size of the files in your current folder and the shared folder got a different icon to make it easier to recognize. But don’t take my word for it, feel free to try out the BETA, or wait a few weeks for our GA.
