The calendar app changed a lot in ownCloud 4.5, but you won’t be able to tell just by looking at it; because we made the changes to its very core. We completely rewrote import and export, solving a lot of compatibility bugs and vastly improving your experience. The new export solves an important bug – many clients can now see more than just the first event and – when importing – automatically takes the calendar-name and the preferred calendar-color from the calendar-file.

Another issue the newly re-written core solves is long waiting times for repeating events. Now, it caches all occurrences of repeating events up to eleven years – the current year, the past five years and the next five years. This makes the work with repeating events extremely fast and resolves all unnecessary waiting times.

In addition, shared calendars are now accessible through calDAV as well.

These are the main new features, but not all. We fixed bugs and we are looking forward to improving the calendar app even more. A big thanks to the ownCloud community.
