Today, we release the first minor update to ownCloud Server 8.1 as well as updates to ownCloud Server 8 and 7. ownCloud, Inc. announces availability of the ownCloud subscriptions for 8.1, both Standard and Enterprise. We would like to remind you that ownCloud 6 is scheduled for end of life in September, so there may be no more 6.0 versions if there are no new issues uncovered in August or September.
We will enable automatic update for those using the updater app on ownCloud 8.0.x within a few days.
What’s improved
As this is a minor release, the changes are improving existing functionality. Several fixes relate to upgrading and migration like only migrating the database on the first update run and the fixes to encryption migration. New is the ability to upgrade non-enabled apps. Also new are more verbosity options and repair information in case migration or upgrade fails, find more information in this blog post.
ownCloud Server 8.0.5 and 7.0.8 only contain critical bugfixes. As there were no significant problems found in ownCloud 6.0, there is no bugfix release for this branch. It is only maintained for two more months so we strongly urge you to upgrade to a newer release if you are still on 6. Note that skipping releases is NOT supported so if you would want to upgrade ownCloud Server 6.0 to 8.0.5, you will have to go via 7.0.8.
