ownCloud webinar to address the impact of the cloud on sensitive corporate data.
With ever-increasing data files, BYOD and 24/7 access to all things digital, IT departments are challenged to implement file sharing access that meets security, compliance and management requirements – and meet the convenience demands of the end user.
“Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud-based storage solutions sound like a good solution, but what really happens to your data?” asked Larry Alston, president, ownCloud. “Join this interactive webinar and learn more about how your data may be compromised (despite what you are being told) when you don't store – and control -- your data on-premise.”
With more than a million users worldwide, ownCloud offers the ease-of-use, flexibility, sophistication and security unmatched by basic consumer-grade syncing apps and third-party storage. ownCloud Enterprise Edition becomes part of the existing infrastructure because it is deployed fully on-premise, integrating into existing user directories, governance processes, security, monitoring, storage and back-up tools. IT can then choose the storage model best suited for the data – public, private or hybrid – depending on the security and privacy needs of the company.
The webinar will focus on:
- Governance: With growing compliance requirements, businesses need to prove where data is when not in direct control. This is easy for on-premise, but a significant challenge for cloud-based vendors.
- Security: While it's possible to encrypt data most of the time, various CDNs, WebDAV and web access won't work with encrypted data which means a trade-off of vulnerability for functionality.
- Control: Most businesses have built security protocols and processes to support the heavy requirements essential within the enterprise, but that control disappears when data his handed over to an outside vendor.
