Earlier this year, ownCloud turned 5 and we published a blog with some highlights. Back in January when that blog was published, ownCloud had received contributions from over 550 people, a number now at well over 800! We’ve had more releases, events like the Contributor Conference 2015 and announcements like our new Security Bug Bounty program. To track our history a little closer, we’ve updated our history page on ownCloud.org with a timeline!

History

Since ownCloud was announced at a keynote by Frank in January 2010, it has grown into a project with millions of users and thousands of developers, testers, bug reporters, translators, designers and documentation writers. While it is impossible to cover everything we do, the timeline links to many of the major milestones in our history: meetups, releases, Inc events and some press coverage. We also included yearly statistics, which give an idea of the growth of ownCloud:

Check out owncloud.org/history and if anything is missing or if you have links to blog posts, screenshots and photos we don’t have yet, let us know in the comments!
