Dear fellow ownClouders!

Addendum: Please note: We had to push public calendars to the Release of 9.2. Sorry for the Inconvenience!

Guess what! Yeah it is in, with the release of ownCloud 9.1.1 9.2 you will be able to share your calendar publicly not only with your ownCloud users but also outside of ownCloud publicly.

Thomas Citharel did some awesome work on this  longly awaited patch.

Thomas implemented this during his internship at Framasoft .

With the release public shared calendars can be integrated in calendar clients such as

  • Thunderbird/Lightning
  • Evolution
  • Korganiser
  • CalDAV Sync Adapter on Androi
  • DAVdroid

So what is so great about this? You now have an calendar which you can share publicly with owncloud, lets say for your soccer club to manage your game days, your local hacking group events or any other events you want to share publicly with your friends, teammates, or coworkers.

Please follow Thomas‘ twitter account.

He will also give a talk at the ownCloud Conference in Berlin
