TODAY I AM PLEASED TO WELCOME TOBIAS GERLINGER AS OWNCLOUD’S NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CEO.
Tobias is a graduate in business administration and mechanical engineering. He started his career as a sales and marketing manager in the software industry before he co-founded a corporate finance boutique in 1999. Following 5 years of international financial consulting and fundraising he became an active investor and served in different leading functions for several companies from different industries. He gathered 20 years of experience in in entrepreneurship, company building and selling.
Tobias recently led a group to invest capital funds into ownCloud, and has, therefore, made them the majority stakeholders in ownCloud GmbH. This is really great news as it has allowed our US customer contracts to be taken over following the closing of our US offices, and will continue to foster global customer relationships.
This new shift in management will allow me, as COO, to completely focus on technology and product strategy; the future of ownCloud. This shift has also given our former CEO and co-founder, Markus Rex, the opportunity to retire from active management and to take a seat on the Advisory Board.
