ownCloud wins Cloud Computing Insider Award 2019

For the fourth time in a row, ownCloud has won the coveted Cloud Computing Insider Award at the IT Awards 2019 in the Filesharing & Collaboration category.

The eight insider portals BigData-Insider, Blockchain-Insider, CloudComputing-Insider, DataCenter-Insider, Dev-Insider, IP-Insider, Security-Insider and Storage-Insider of Vogel IT-Medien awarded the IT-Awards in a total of 43 categories on Thursday evening in Augsburg for the fifth year in a row. More than 35,000 participants voted on the six cloud computing categories and chose their favourites. In the Filesharing & Collaboration category, ownCloud was awarded first place thanks to the high approval of the readership and the loyal supporters of the Open Source Community Platinum. Second place went to Nextcloud – as in the previous year – and third place this year to the American provider Dropbox.

This renewed, highest award for the fourth year in a row reflects the great success of the Nuremberg private cloud solution based on open source.

“Data security and data sovereignty are now on everyone’s lips and are becoming increasingly important, especially for large and medium-sized companies as well as for public administration. This is also demonstrated by the fact that ownCloud, as the leading open source file sharing provider, has once again been able to assert itself against prominent proprietary public cloud services such as Google, Dropbox and Citrix. I am delighted with the recognition we have received for our daily work and I would like to thank our customers and our active open source community for the fact that we have been able to accept this prestigious IT award for the fourth time. ownCloud rocks!” says Tobias Gerlinger, CEO at ownCloud.
