Larry Alston to lead the outbound focus of the secure enterprise file sync and share company

Lexington, MA – April 9, 2013 – ownCloud, Inc. the company behind the world’s most popular open source secure enterprise file sync and share software, announced that Larry Alston will join the company as president, leading the outbound focus of the company, including sales, marketing and communications.

With more than 850,000 users worldwide, ownCloud offers an on-premise file sync and share product that is deployed on your servers using your storage, and integrates into existing security, governance, monitoring, and existing user directory services – becoming part of a company’s existing infrastructure. onwCloud offers the security and IT management capabilities required to ensure no sensitive corporate data leakage or security beaches occur.

Alston was most recently president at FuseSource Corporation (acquired by Red Hat), the leading open source integration and messaging software vendor, where he was responsible for all aspects of the FuseSource business including the P/L and strategic direction of the business

Prior to FuseSource, Alston was vice president of marketing and product management at EnterpriseDB where he helped grow an open source database business. Before that he was vice president and general manager, FUSE Business at Iona Technologies where he conceived of and created a new business unit that resulted in the company’s first open source products.

Alston graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a BS in Computer Science and Northeastern University with an MBA.
