Can I apply for a job that isn't advertised?
Of course you can and we are very much looking forward to your unsolicited application. ownCloud lives from people who identify with the open source world beyond their work, see it as their home and who already have experience in proactively getting involved in open source projects.
Any advice for making a great application?
Whether it’s for your application or interviews, it always helps to do a little research. Read the blog about ownCloud, check how we pursue our vision of digital sovereignty with ownCloud, dig a little deeper into our history and the company and try ownCloud yourself (it’s free and easy).
You do not necessarily need a cover letter, just tell us about what makes you unique, and highlight any projects you’ve done in your field.

Where to submit my application?
What can I do to prepare for engineering interviews?
As a matter of principle, we don’t have an evil engineering boot camp if you attend a job interview with us. Nonetheless, there are a few things you can prepare:
- Install the ownCloud on an environment of your choice and test the product: How did you perform the installation and what errors did you notice?
- Familiarize yourself with the ownCloud GitHub project and its repositories
- Plus points if you have already submitted a pull request or improved the documentation
- Sometimes we ask you to solve an issue after a job interview, these are usually marked with
