Sr. Solutions Architect- Global Customer eXperience Lexington, MA (US)

ownCloud, the leader in storage agnostic, under your control, enterprise file sync and share software, is looking for a Solutions Architect, based in the Boston area.  We are a well funded, highly dynamic, early-stage company in a fast growing market.

The Solutions Architect will work closely with customers and prospects across the US and will own getting to the “production win” during the post-sales deployment process.  Candidate must be highly motivated and be able to build strong relationships with customers, develop and manage deployment and production proposals, coordinate technical resources remotely, and answer technical questions from the customer. Familiarity with corporate IT infrastructure, web applications, PHP, databases and n-tier architectures a necessity. Open source experience and knowledge of Linux a plus.

Candidate will be asked to:

  • Meet existing and prospective customers face to face and on the phone to review their deployment & production requirements
  • Travel to customer locations, demonstrate the product, and ensure the customer solution has been validated
  • Respond to customer technical questions, configuration issues and other pre & post sales activities as needed
  • Rapidly understand customer needs and turn them into a proposed solution
  • Coordinate global development resources, both internally and externally, to get the “production” win
  • Manage the technical aspects of any configuration or custom development work required
  • Be highly motivated and self-driven to do the right thing for the customer, ensure they choose and deploy the ownCloud solution and are set up for success long term

Requirements:

  • BA/BS or equivalent in related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in a customer facing technical role, preferably pre-sales, preferably for a software vendor
  • Basic Skills:
    • LAMP Stack, Oracle DB
    • Scaling: Webserver Scaling, DB Nodes/Scaling
    • Storage
    • LDAP/AD
    • Java Script
    • CSS Style Sheets (to brand the web GUI)
    • Installing ownCloud

Product Support Engineer (GCX) Nürnberg, Germany

Position Summary

As an ownCloud Global Customer eXperience Product Support Engineer, you will be responsible for working directly with our customers to provide high quality technical support in all stages of ownCloud deployment. When not working directly with our customers, you may also work on documentation or programming tasks as appropriate. We are interested in candidates that have a creative problem solving streak, and who work well as part of a global team. You can expect to work out of offices in the Boston area, and you may be needed to take on-call support shifts at various times throughout the year.

You may be called upon to assist with and in teaming with other GCX members working on Customer/Partner’s pre-deployment projects (all flavors including add-on consulting, training, or other professional services as required). Primarily this role will help with the workload of the Support Center, especially as it relates to their assigned area of coverage working with Engineering teams in the development of features, identification of software defects, and the resolution of Customer/Partner issues. You can expect some occasional travel as needed to Customer or Partner locations.

It is expected that this person is highly motivated, technically strong, and capable of working independently/ interacting with Customers and Partners directly. Experience supporting technical projects in large enterprise environments is a must, open source experience and knowledge of common enterprise infrastructure highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of support issues with our customers and see them through to resolution
    • Work with the Customer/Partner to identify the issue and provide supporting information
    • Reproduce the issue in an ownCloud environment
    • Work with the Engineering Team to reproduce the issue and resolve it
    • Communicate with Customers throughout the process
  • Resolving customer complaints without the need to escalate issues
  • Document troubleshooting tips, FAQs and work arounds
  • Serve as an expert on the practical installation of the ownCloud product as needed
  • Be highly motivated and self-driven to do the right thing for the customer and ensure customer success and technical acceptance
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve integration and installation issues with Customers & Partners
  • Identify and resolve bugs in the ownCloud product preventing Customer deployment or production
  • Work with Customers & Partners post-sale and pre-deployment to support their implementation projects and help them be successful through their entire lifecycle with ownCloud
  • Work with the product management, sales and support teams regularly to document and share lessons learned with the greater ownCloud team
  • Be highly motivated and self-driven to do the right thing for the Customer/Partner and ensure project success and technical acceptance
  • Customer eXperience (CX) “ownership” attitude & Net Promoter System (NPS) philosophy practices

Education Requirements
BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent field of study

Experience Requirements
5-7 Years of experience in delivering consulting, training, or supporting the related technologies as listed within this job description for large enterprise, government agencies, or institutions.

  • Proven track record as a support engineer in enterprise software
  • Demonstrated acumen working directly with technical customers to install, configure or troubleshoot customer issues remotely over the phone
  • Experience with PHP in scalable production applications, and integrating PHP with MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, work well alone without constant supervision.
