Last week we received the notification that our ownCloud Google Summer of Code project was selected!
As explained in my last blog post about Phoenix we are co-mentoring the GSoC project ‘Petabyte-Scale Cloud Storage File Manager‘ together with fellows from Cern and AARNet.
We’d like to congratulate Oshan Ivantha for being selected for GSoC 2018! I’m really looking forward to work with you on this project!
Within the next 4 weeks – during the so called Community Bonding Period – Oshan will be introduced to the ownCloud community and he will learn all necessary details to start with the coding phase on May 14th. For a detailed timeline have a look here.

Google Summer of Code
The Google Summer of Code, often abbreviated to GSoC, is an international annual program, first held from May to August 2005. It is a global program focused on bringing more student developers into open source software development. Students work with a selected open source organization on a 3 month programming project during their break from school.
